Mr. Anthony Castellano
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I am once again very excited to be teaching art at Smith Elementary School! As the art teacher, I will have the amazing opportunity to discover, explore, and create with each grade level. My philosophy of teaching is that each student is like a different color on a painter's palette. With that idea in mind, I look forward to displaying the diversity of the students at Smith through the expressive and colorful art pieces created throughout the year.
During our new artistic adventures this school year, we will work with and explore both 2D and 3D mediums. Our work will be made smaller to accommodate our space! Like in past years, we will still incorporate the elements of art and principles of design in the creation of works and still continue to discover new trends in art. The S.T.E.A.M. philosophy is a great approach to the art-making and design process. This year, we will continue to infuse process-based learning.
My expectations of my students are clear. Make A.R.T. That is Act Appropriately, Respect each other, the materials and environment, and Try your very best. Following these rules will ensure a successful, fun, and safe art experience.
This page also serves as a great resource with art-related links, references, and media.

Colorfully yours,
Mr. Castellano
