Welcome to J. Spencer Smith Elementary School, a place where strong connections and meaningful learning come together to support every child.

I am excited to be joining the Smith School community this year. I am honored to continue serving the Tenafly School District after 22 years in the district, including 12 years as principal of Mackay School and 10 years as principal of Tenafly Middle School. I look forward to building relationships with our students, families, and staff as we begin this next chapter together.

At Smith School, we are guided by three simple and important rules: Take care of yourself. Take care of each other. Take care of this place. These principles help us build a community rooted in respect, responsibility, and pride in our school.

Our school is a welcoming environment filled with positive energy, a dedicated and professional staff, and an outstanding Home School Association. Our HSA volunteers play an essential role in creating enriching experiences and strengthening the connections between students, families, and staff.
